Welcome to the Silhouette Cameo Sew Along

Congratulations to all of the new and current owners of this fabulous machine!  This Sew Along will feature the Silhouette Cameo 2, 3 and 4.  The adjustments will vary but the idea is to use your machine to make your appliqué quicker and easier to do. I will be working with the Silhouette Cameo 3.

The first step is to download the free design from Kimberbell here.  We will be working with the Cupcake pillow project and there are two options.  SEWING and EMBROIDERY. Select the one that best suits your needs- I will be working with both.

Once you reach the page, you will find a pop up to add your email.  After you fill it out, it will automatically start the download. Create a new folder on your desktop or your Silhouette Cameo folder and save your designs there.

If you are doing a traditional appliqué and using your machine to satin stitch or use a buttonhole or E stitch, you will print out this sheet and draw the shapes onto the back or paper side of your Heat n Bond Lite.  The designs are already reversed for you.

However, if you own a Silhouette Cameo, you can just trace the heart and cherry and use your machine to out the larger shapes.

The Silhouette Cameo comes with a free software program but to load the SVG files, you will need the Designer Edition.

I have found the best price is from Swing Design.  You can find the link here.

I will be working with the Business Edition so you may find I have extra icons that you do not have.

The next step is to load your SVG designs onto your mat.  The designs are already reversed and ready for embroidery appliqué. Remember you can use them if you do not own an embroidery machine.  I have included a quick video to show you how to do this.  I am using a trial version of Camtasia so you will see a watermark on the video.  I hope it is not too distracting.

Here is a picture of my mat with the 5 cupcake designs.  Tomorrow I will show you how to prep your fabric and arrange your mat to cut out your shapes.

I have broken down this lesson into small increments but I still consider this lesson to be a beginner lesson.  Give it a try!

Sadly, the last Close to My Heart paper pack is done and ready for class on Saturday, July 20th.  Gather your vacation photos as this paper pack is perfect for any scenes with water. Lake Life #1 layout is all about a trip last fall to Mount Dora.  My son participated in a bike race, and they did some 'sightseeing' on the second day.  My grandson Luke's strange photos are from the 'vblog' post he was making.  Not sure if he ever posted it, though. Lake Life layout #2 features my niece and her family on an annual trip to Lake Chautauqua.   Even though it was an overcast day, it sure looked like Emmy had fun! Any day is a good day for eating pizza! Lake Life #3  is the last layout of the paper pack and are a few more pictures of my son's trip to Mount Dora.  They looked like they had a exciting weekend! The layouts are designed by Close to My Heart and include the directions to complete them.  No extra supplies or inks needed just the ...

Take to the Sky is a winner!

This paper pack was the featured one for my first scrapbooking get together in June.  Covid put an end to the monthly gathering, and we are so excited to be together again. This paper pack has a vintage feel with the airplanes, map and clouds design.  but the other side of the paper has a masculine design and colors great for both cards and layouts. The coordinating stamps and dies include phrases which are prefect for birthdays, Father's Day and traveling. The Industrial Trinkets add just the right accent to both layouts and cards My first share today is this layout I made which features the clouds, airplanes, tags and some twine. There are so many ways to use this design. How would you use it?

Join me in this spectacular sale of 15% off of selected Designer Series Paper and start designing your cards and scrapbook layouts.                                             Follow along with me throughout the month for ideas and inspiration in using the selected Designer Series Paper.  Today's blog post features the Mediterranean Blooms paper along with the coordinating Citrus blooms stamp set.  I love this paper pack with its trendy blue mosaic tile look and of course, lemons and oranges! My share of artwork with this sunny paper is a layout of my son and daughter-in-law on a night out at a modern Mediterraneum restaurant. I began with inspiration from an idea in a Close to My Heart catalog and personalized it. I varied the sizes of the strips, such as 1 1/2" x 10" or 2" x 10", among others. I created a random pattern and then pops of color with 1/2" and 1/4" ...
